Well Hello… my name is Alicia and I’m a passionate, outgoing, inquisitive, realistic, sarcastic, optimistic and career-driven 26 year old. My life is crazily random and I wouldn’t prefer it be any other way. I am dedicated to working hard, procrastinating and allowing my imagination to run wild. I’m not sure what will happen next, but I’m looking forward to finding out.
This blog is about me, becoming a planner. In March of 2009 I graduated from Miami Ad School’s Boot Camp for Account Planning. When I was there, I met some amazing planners, aspiring planners, copywriters and art directors. The experience changed my life in many personal and professional ways, opening up my eyes to the world around me and all that planning can be. Armed with the strategic and creative thinking skills and tools taken from the boot camp, I returned to Ypartnership (agency in Orlando, Fl) to ambitiously implement a planning function where one had never existed.
It was tough. A challenge unlike any I had ever faced, testing my levels of ambition, passion and perseverance. Small changes turned out to be big victories for planning at my previous agency. I learned that planning isn’t just something one person can retro-fit into an agency model. It has to be woven in throughout all departments and processes as a mindset. I’m proud of what I accomplished there in a short time, but due to economic conditions far beyond anyone’s control, I lacked the resources, support and opportunities needed to move forward.
As luck would have it, my Miami Ad School connections lead me to a new agency in the Midwest. I’ve traded in my flip flops for cowboy boots and am continuing my journey of becoming a planner. A Steelers fan in Cowboy Country. Eek!
Things are new, different and exciting. The changes are welcomed and I hope to keep you all on the edge of your seats as 2010 pans out. Best year ever? We’ll have to wait and see.
Dear fellow blogger,
Sorry for the direct approach from me (René) by sending this message.
I started a community website for creatives, artists and other talents. It kicked of early 2008 and is doing very good since and getting many hits.
I do love to draw in some new members though. (www.axepose.com).
I will pimp our news-page this week which will contain a blogroll (links). I hereby would like to kindly ask you to link your blog to mine. I will then make sure to link Axepose back to yours which will definately draw new visitors to your blog.
In this way us creatives can keep each others network fresh and strong. Axepose.com is a non-profit initiative I fund out of my own salary. It gives artists the opportunity to get known worldwide. Again, my appologies if I wasted your time.
I hope you you grand my request. Just let me know and I’ll be forever grateful
Also, if you wish to write a little article on Axepose on your blog please do. I will then write a post (on Axepose) about your blog to return the favour.
Kind regards,
René Axepose
